Gdansk, Poland

July 2017

Last year I met up with local paddler Piotr Gudan of Outdoor Explore  for some paddling.  Piotr is originally from Poland and had told me that it would be a great place to SUP. 
On the 18th of July we flew into Gdansk, where we were met by 2 of Piotr’s friends, Milena and Jedrzej of Swiat z Kajaka.  For the next week we would be using their centre as our water base – “the basin”.
The next morning we arrived at the basin where I unpacked my awesome 2018 14’x26” Red Paddle Elite SUP and Ultimate Carbon paddle.
Once on the water we did a wee 6km route around the 2 islands in the centre of Gdansk, trying to avoid the wakes of fast moving pirate ships, water taxis, and the occasional VW Beetle. 
We then headed back to the basin, where Piotr swapped his SUP for a kayak, and we headed off into the countryside for another 10k, in glorious sunshine, and virtually no other traffic on the water.
