Swimming – Lamlash Splash – 2022

Lamlash, Arran, Scotland.

September 2022

Back for my 6th Lamlash Splash, with Rhona guiding me for the second time. Dressed in as much yellow as she could, (including the now famous “yellow socks”). She did a great job guiding me across the 1.3 mile gap between Holy Isle and Lamlash.
The water was a tad lumpy in the middle, which meant everyone’s predicted time for the crossing was a bit slower this year. One minute I’d be right next to Rho, then a wave would come and we’d be 5 metres apart. Then the next wave would arrive, and we’d be bouncing off each other! Although the conditions were challenging for Rhona, (I love the lumpy stuff), and pushed her out of her comfort zone, she kept those arms swinging and legs kicking, and pushed herself through it! What a star!
Well done to everyone who swam this year, and maybe see you again next year!
As always, a great time was had by all, and if you fancy a fun, friendly, and sometimes challenging swim, then the Lamlash Splash should be on your list.
Thank you to Ann and all of the Lamlash Splash team, as well as to the wonderful Lee Reid for keeping a close eye on Rhona and I during the swim.
