Bike (GNT) – Croick Church, north to deer gate, en route to Oykel Bridge, Sutherland, Scotland

After 3 days of biking and walking, the plan for today was to get as far along this track from the church towards Oykel Bridge, some 20 odd kms north. We knew we wouldn’t get all the way along it, as we would then need to come back the same way, but aimed to get along it as far as we could.
At a little over 11km we hit a deer fence and decided this would be a good landmark to aim for from Oykel Bridge on our southerly trip.
We knew there had been a bit of a tailwind, but hadn’t realised quite how much it was until we turned around to head back. The wind was ferocious, and several times the only way down hill was to pedal hard, as gravity was outdone by the headwind!
A fantastic day out, and the perfect end to a great wee break in our favourite part of Scotland – Sutherland.
