Bike (GNT) – Kielder Reservoir, England

October 2021

After a fab few days in Northumberland with AWEsome friends, Rhona and I decided to do another Great North Trail leg, this time at Kielder Reservoir.
The track turned out to be super “Dean friendly”, i.e. fairly easy for a blind guy and his guide to ride, with no major obstacles. It certainly wasn’t flat, and with lots of rain it definitely got slippery in places, and the odd puddle got quite deep.
Normally when we do a GNT section, we have to then cycle the same route back, but after completing this 22k bit, (with the rain getting heavier, and light getting poorer), we agreed that it would be wise just to finish off the circuit around the reservoir. This meant a final distance of just over 35k.
The bikes, (and the riders), needed a really good clean after this wee adventure on the Great North Trail!
