Bike – Loch Awe, Scotland

The original plan had been to cycle south from Loch Awe Boats to Ford, (around 30km), and back. As our biggest bike ride this year was 37k, this 60k trip would certainly be a challenge. However, when we got to Ford, we decided to explore a bit further, and aim for 40k. Although this proved to be an extremely hilly road, we pushed on to 50k, where we decided that this would be a good time to turn around and head back.
A total trip of 100k! This is the longest I’ve ever cycled in one go, and I was certainly feeling it over the last 15k.
This was a brilliant route, if a tad challenging with my lowest gears in use on some of the hill climbs on the west side of the loch. No doubt, we will be back to do some more exploring!
