An amazing 3 day, 2 night, SUP expedition training session on Loch Laggan with Abby, Annabel, Annie, Ellie, Sally, Guy and Max from the Nairn Academy Duke of Edinburgh Silver Awards.
The trip was led by the brilliant Jordan McNeilage, who among many other roles, played both casualty and mountain rescue in a very entertaining first aid training exercise, as well as introducing us all to the game of “Grab a Gran”, (which turned out not to be what I thought it was going to be!!)
The whole SUP exped idea was imagined, then brought to life by the total STAR that is Kirstin Grant. (I hope Nairn Academy and Duke of Edinburgh Scotland recognise what a gem they have in Kirstin, whose positivity and enthusiasm is most definitely contagious!)
The group did incredibly well, paddling in some very challenging conditions, taking on some fast moving water, and handling it all in their stride. And the game of “Chubby Bunny” will stay with Rhona and I for a long time to come!!
Thank you for inviting me along!
BTW. We know that last years’ DofE SUP exped, was a Scottish first, but does anyone know if it has ever been done before in the UK, or indeed “the world”?
